A Gas Surf Winch takes .5 quarts of 10w-30 oil.
A Gas Surf Winch uses regular 87 gas (.9 gallons).
Make sure the Surf Winch is secure, then grab the wake handle and walk the rope out.
Both Surf Winches are equipped with 500ft of 1000lbs line.
A Gas Surf Winch weighs about ~70 pounds with no gas and oil.
Gas Surf Winch typically takes 5-7 days to arrive after order is placed.
"Gas Surf Winch is the first fully steel, self-anchoring winch on the market, and it offers the best value available online. The Electric Surf Winch will also be the first fully transportable winch—airplane safe, lightweight, and controllable by either the rider or a friend.
Depends on weight a Gas Surf Winch will pull a ~165 pounds rider on a skimboard about 30 mph.
Due to the size and weight of the Gas Surf Winch, it must be shipped by freight. Standard carriers like FedEx and UPS don’t allow it to be shipped normally.
To operate a Gas Surf Winch first add oil and gas to your Surf Winch, then if on sand you will drop the back of the Surf Winch in the sand and make sure the frame is covered so it doesn't shift, after that make sure the gas switch is turned on, then make sure the red on off knob is on the on position, you can then walk the rope out however far you want, after that you pull the pull cord to start the Surf Winch, after the Surf Winch is on and the rider is ready you will pull the silver throttle bar 50%-75% to get the rider up (weight dependant). you will then adjust the speed depends on what the rider needs after the rider falls or the rope is almost all the way pulled in you will push the throttle forward to the idle position and turn the red knob on the front to the off position.
Surf Winch is based out of Jupiter, Florida.
Surf Winch is fully handmade by me (Teddy Thompson). I design and build the frames, spools, and assemble each winch myself. Stock is limited while I continue building. If you’re interested in joining Surf Winch, email me at teddythompson@surfwinch.com
First check to make sure surf winch has enough gas, make sure gas switch is on, make sure winch on off knob is in the on positions, if surf winch still isnt starting move the choke lever to start and after surf winch starts move it to run. If Surf Winch still isnt running move the throttle stick about 10% and try starting again.
If you haven't used you're Gas Surf Winch in more than a ~ month it will take longer to start than if you used it yesterday, there is no fix to this other than it will take a couple trys to start becuase it is a gas engine.
If spool is hard to pull out it most likely means that the rope wasn't respooled tightly. Take Surf Winch rope and pull it ALMOST all the way out and do a skim run back to the winch or have tension on the line to respool, surf winch will run normally after that.
Surf Winch will pull the line in a striaght line so be careful where you place surf winch so it isnt in the way of other people or in a position that could hurt the rider.
DO NOT GO PAST THE WINCH, it will end in line snapping or line spooling wrong.
No, there will be one for electric surf winch when ever i release it.
Again No, probably for electric winch though.
Gas Surf Winch is fully water resistant, meaning it can get rained on and sprayed down with the hole after each use just be carefuly when washing back of engine dont direclty spray water into open engine parts. Electric Surf Winch will be fully water proof.
To anchor a Gas Surf Winch just pick up the back and drop it so skeggs stick into ground, after dig out wheels so it doesn't drive away then cover bottom of frame in sand to hold it down, may take a run or two to be fully anchored.
To anchor on grass or concrete you will have to find a tree or post or something strong and stable, then get a ratchet strap and wrap it around the back grab bar and then around your stable point.
At the moment no becuase the freight company I use charges so much for it, but in the future it will ship to Hawaii.
Right now surf winch just ships to the lower 48 states.
On a Gas Surf Winch you will get around ~40-50 runs on a full tank of gas.
No don't do that, it'll probably be fine but just don't do it.
Surf Winch frames are fully steel
Surf Winch Spools are fully steel also.
No probably not.
Surf Winch TOS that everyone has to agree to before buying a surf winch. Terms of Service.
If the rope breaks, re-tie it using a double sheet bend knot.
Rope will fray if rope isnt properly sprayed down, also if rope is being dragged on cement or through rocks.
Yes you can, just make sure to spray down Surf Winch after to prevent rusting.
Anything that requires speed can be used with a Surf Winch, skateboarding, bmx, tubing, skiing, snowboarding and many more.
Yes it can be used in snow, I've never tested it in snow since I live in Florida but I imagine it works the same.
Yes Surf Winch is beginner-friendly, just have someone responsible operating Surf Winch.
When using Surf Winch, make sure it is properly secured. Ensure the rope is clear of people and safe for the rider. Keep hands away from the spool and chain while in use to avoid injury.
No the only "kill switch" is using the on off knob in the front, in case of emergency turn surf winch to off position.
When buying Gas Surf Winch orders will be tracked through the freight company, the rest will be tracked through UPS or FEDEX.
If order is damaged message me personally at teddythompson@surfwinch.com
Gas Surf Winch requires two people the rider and operator but electric Surf Winch can be used with just one person.
Surf Winch does not need a lot of space, just enough to anchor itself and being able to operate it, Surf Winch also needs a clear path in front of it for the rope to go to avoid injury or rope fraying.
To save cost on shipping a Gas Surf Winch you can use terminal pickup, which instead of the package coming straight to your front door you can pick it up at the closest shipping terminal.
Freight terminals are normally local and shouldn't be far away.
